Pushing Limits for a Cause: My Attempt to Run the Entire Length of the Tyne-Wear Metro in Under 24 Hours
Every year, I challenge myself physically to make a difference in the world. This upcoming year, as a proud Geordie from Newcastle, I plan to undertake an extraordinary feat: running the entire length of the Tyne-Wear Metro in under 24 hours. It’s a bold endeavor, covering approximately 118 kilometers (73.5 miles), and I’m reaching out to you for support.
Understanding the Challenge
While it might sound a bit ambitious—or even reckless—I believe in pushing boundaries for a good cause. My previous major charity challenge was cycling from Newcastle to Istanbul over ten weeks with my father, raising over £2,500 for Movember. That journey was about more than just the miles; it was about connection, resilience, and making an impact.
This time, I’m focusing on mental health and substance abuse—issues that affect one in five children in the UK. Though I haven’t announced the specific charity publicly yet, it’s deeply personal and meaningful to me. My goal is to harness my physical effort to shine a light on these important topics and raise vital funds.
How You Can Support
Throughout my training and during the challenge itself, I’ll be sharing updates and progress on Instagram. If you’re interested in following along and cheering me on, I would be incredibly grateful. Your support can make all the difference in achieving my fundraising goal.

Following takes just a moment, but it can help amplify the message, draw more attention to the cause, and ultimately lead to more donations.
A Call to Action
While this challenge might seem daring—or even a bit foolish—it comes from a place of genuine commitment to making a positive impact. Please consider supporting me in this journey, whether through following my updates, sharing my story, or donating to the cause once I officially launch the fundraising campaign.
Thank you all for your kindness, encouragement, and support. Together, we can turn this ambitious idea into a meaningful act of change.
Warm regards,
Paul (The Geordie Challenger)
